WOUNDED DESTINY

How could you leave me alone, here with my shame?
I find my heart face down in the mess that I have made
I waste myself on you with a love that has no claim
I hold on tight to a destiny that will never be the same

Why did you take my dreams, and make them come untrue?
For every tear you cried for me, I shed a thousand more for you
My hopes and dreams, they vanished with the turning of your face
I have not held a single wish since the loss of your embrace

And I’ve tasted the loss of everything I was dreaming of
Can this be the end, if only of the hope, of having you to love?

And my heart, it breaks anew each day
In the night I call your name, but there’s no one there for me
Like a sky, bruised with clouds of pain
There’s no way I can save my wounded destiny

If every sea with ink were filled, and every cloud of parchment made
And every feather on earth, a quill; and every man a scribe by trade
To write my love for you would drain the oceans dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky

I wanna run, I wanna run away
To a place where, still, you and I were meant to be
They say that time, oh, time can cure all ills
But time can never heal
My wounded destiny

Some have requested that I post some of my own song lyrics. These are the lyrics to a song I wrote, inspired by a personal experience of the pain of lost love. Is it really better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all?
